In celebration of our First Edition of Weekend Watches, we would like to welcome you to our brand new monthly segment ‘The Weekend Watchlist’, where once a month, we give you our top movie and TV show picks for you and your family to sit back and enjoy! 

Whether you're planning a sleepover or a spontaneous night in with a takeaway - there’s no doubt about it, we love a cozy night in on the sofa with our loved ones and a good film.  So we’ve put together a list of our best picks for you and your family and friends to look forward to. Starting with our top picks for families, we have a selection of movies that are bound to get the whole family excited for movie night!

❤ The Mitchells vs. The Machines - PG (Netflix & Prime video)

This movie is about a family who are on a road trip that is soon interrupted when all of the electronic devices in the world come to life and stage an uprising! This movie is perfect for a family looking for some adventure and comedy without leaving the comfort of your sofa.  

❤ Luca - PG (Disney+)

Luca is a film filled with joy! It is all about a young sea creature who lives along the Italian Riviera, when he meets a companion, Luca finally ventures on to the land for the first time. It is a story of self-discovery, friendship, and adventure. 

❤ Avatar: The Last Airbender - PG (Netflix, Prime video, Paramount +)

If you’re looking to introduce your little ones to a classic, then this series is the perfect pass time. This series takes place in a world where people have control over the elements. This series is about action and adventure, and it is ideal for a family who gathers around the TV in the evenings.

❤ Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous - PG (Netflix, Prime video, Apple TV) 

Are you and your family dino-lovers? Say no more, we’ve got the perfect pick for evening chill time. It is all about teens who attend an adventure camp on the opposite side of Isla Nublar, when the dinosaurs inevitably wreak havoc, as per usual, the teens have to work together to survive. However, you should be warned that this show may be a bit too intense for some younger viewers. 

Now, let’s move on to the movies and shows for the big kids who have some time to themselves this weekend! There is a general theme of prequels around at the moment, so be prepared to discover more about movies and shows you already know and love. Binge-watching session is upon us, and we have some great picks if you just can’t get enough or you want to make a night of it. 

❤ House of the Dragon - Mature Audience Only (HBOmax)

The prequel to Game of Thrones has finally graced our screens with its presence! If you haven’t already heard, this series is set 200 years before the events in Game of Thrones and follows the house of Targaryen. This is a must watch for any Game of Thrones fanatic, and if you haven’t got around to watching any of this series yet, I most certainly would recommend that you do! 

❤ Prey - Mature Audience Only (Disney +)

Prey is the newest release in the Predator series which takes place 300 years before the timeline of the original predator movies. This movie is filled with action, adventure, and is perfect for any Predator fan or sci-fi lover. 

❤ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power - TV-14 (Prime Video)

This series is the brand new addition to The Lord of the Rings empire. Set in the second age of Middle-earth’s history, this epic show takes place thousands of years before the events we all know and love. Be prepared to go on a journey back to watch the great powers being forged, as well as the trials and tribulations of this mystical world. 

❤ Cobra Kai - 15+ (Netflix)

For all the lovers of the absolute classic movie Karate Kid, the Cobra Kai series is must watch! This series takes place thirty four years after the events of Karate Kid. Johnny Lawrence is seeking redemption and reopens the Cobra Kai dojo which sparks the old rivalry between him and Danny LaRusso. There's 5 seasons of this to fly through and trust me, once you start, you won’t want to stop!
